A simple walkthrough to help you prepare and perform Umrah with confidence.
1) Preparation Before You Travel
- Obtain your Umrah visa through an approved travel agency.
- Ensure required vaccinations and carry your health certificate.
- Book flights and accommodation, keep copies (digital + printed) of all documents.
- Pack essentials: Ihram, slippers, lightweight prayer mat, basic medicines, power bank.
2) Wearing Ihram
Before crossing the Miqat, enter the state of Ihram.
- Men: Two white unstitched sheets.
- Women: Normal modest clothing meeting Shari’ah guidelines.
- Make intention (niyyah) and say: “Labbaika Allahumma ‘Umrah.”
- Recite Talbiyah frequently: “Labbayka Allahumma Labbayk…”
3) Tawaf (Circumambulation)
- Enter Masjid Al-Haram calmly, proceed to the Ka‘bah.
- Begin at the Black Stone (if possible), then circle anti-clockwise 7 times.
- Make du‘a, dhikr, and recite Qur’an as you walk.
- After Tawaf, pray two rak‘ahs if possible.
4) Sa’i (Safa–Marwah)
- Proceed to Safa, make du‘a facing the Ka‘bah.
- Walk between Safa and Marwah 7 times (Safa→Marwah counts as 1).
- Men jog lightly in the marked green area; women walk normally.
5) Tahallul (Hair)
- Men: Shave (recommended) or trim hair all around.
- Women: Snip ~1 inch (2–3 cm) from the end of the hair.
Your Umrah is now complete, Alhamdulillah.
